Fresh aquamarine desk..A before and after

I was so excited to paint this desk for a client. The desk was in sad shape when I bought it, but I knew it could be fabulous with a bit of work!

I'm in love with the color that my client picked. it's a minty fresh aquamarine..and just gorgeous!

A bit of sanding, a couple of coats of my chalk paint, several layers of wax and some new jewelry and she was ready for her new home!

The aqua compliments the coral in my client's room perfectly..another happy customer!

The Pianist's table: A before and after.

One of the things I have the most trouble doing is documenting my projects. Which causes me to not write the post about the project because I have no pictures, which causes me to not blog at all because I don't have anything to show/tell.

I'm going to be better about it.

That being said, I did actually remember to take some pictures of a few of my recent purchases. The first of which was this sad little table with a marble insert that had suffered a break and subsequent unsightly repair.

The repair that had been made was solid, so the insert didn't need to be replaced, just given a facelift.
Enter our old standby Mod Podge, and some vintage sheet music.

Add a bit of Ink Chalky paint and a poly-acrylic sealant and she is dressed and ready for the curtain to rise!

Vintage Strawberry tin

A few weeks ago I picked up this sweet little tin at a thrift store for $.30.

As they tend to do, the inside had started to corrode, leaving areas vulnerable to rust. So I covered up the outside of the tin and lid using masking tape and a plastic shopping bag,

and after a quick spritz of some Krylon spray paint

(Ivory on the lid, Celery for the basin)
I can now store my vintage buttons without worry!

The sewing room makeover is coming along, I can't wait to share!

Crafting beginnings

Ever start on a project, with plenty of time and using supplies you have on hand, and still not be able to finish it? That was me last night.

My glue gun, E6000, all but 1 alphabet stamp set, ink pads, pearls, rhinestones, ribbon roses, paper roses.., I think you get the idea, well, they are all downstairs in what *was* going to be my new craft room before Hubby realized my sewing machine was going to interfere with his work (Walking foot.) And the room is a mess due to the going through of my ridiculously over-sized stash.

At least I got some beginnings going, and I will be clearing the way through to my general supplies today, believe you me!

a couple of coats of French Lace..

 Some vintage trim..

This wonderful tarnished metal butterfly....I hope to have the finished product ready to share tomorrow!

Keep creating!

yumm...

Doesn't this just look soooo yummy? It's very simple, I just sliced up some granny smiths, strawberries, bananas. then tossed in some Blackberries and green grapes.

After I put them into the fridge to keep them chilled, I mixed up an angel food cake mix (from a box- Gasp! lol) and baked it up..

Slice, top with the fruit salad and a dollop of sugar free whipped topping. SO refreshing and light for a hot summery day!

Today I started on my plan to exercise everyday, and it's going to be hard. but I am tired of being overweight and I need to strengthen those muscles, or my back and neck is only going to get worse.

Also today I started a couple of projects that have been building up in the garage, Up first is this old solid wood panel door I picked up off the curb. Look at this hardware: The knob plate on this side of the door is pretty rusty, but I love the details. The hinges were just as nice, I've saved them for another project sometime down the road. The door is part of a larger project coming up.
Also up is this rocking chair. This was a Craigslist find last summer, I bought it just as you see (minus the aqua paint) and it will be getting a total overhaul as well.

I almost forgot to get a before picture of it! Fortunately I didn't get too far before I remembered.

Tomorrow is another day and I hope to get these projects closer to completed.

Dinette before and after

About a month and a half ago I was on a mission. I wanted a 2 seater table for my kitchen. At first my vision had a more retro country feel with one of those little rectangle farmhouse drop leaf tables, and while $100-$150 isn't a bad price for one, it was more than I wanted to pay. so I kept looking, knowing that eventually the perfect table would eventually be found.

Well one morning while on my way to take Minion 2 to an estate sale--Longer story, I will fill you in on that at a later date.--we stopped by a moving sale, and the clouds parted and a golden beam of light shone down upon this diamond in the rough!.

Ok, it didn't really happen like that, but this set was on their porch so I asked if they might be going to sell it too. They said sure, we'd take $25 for it, and just like that it was mine!
I just love the mid century mod lines and  it was actually in pretty darn good condition already.

It's taken me this long to get it finished, due to weather and illness, but today I finally felt well enough to get the chair seats covered and here she is now!
The paint is Krylon Cherry Red, The fabric is DSQuilts (found in Joann Fabrics) I love it!
Oh..and less than a week after I bought this I found a vintage oval drop leaf set for $25..Did I get it anyway? Oh you bet I did! LOL

Ok, it's time to go get some groceries, a week on the couch has meant a lot of meal rearranging, Hubby has been wonderful, and I wish I hadn't been so sick so I could have enjoyed the weeks worth of someone else cooking dinner!

Getting the house dressed for spring!

So last night was one of my insomnia nights..I couldn't even get sleepy, let alone actually fall asleep. So I did a a couple of quiet chores and then got some more work done on some projects, and started and finished a couple of others.

One of the started and finished projects was this Rabbit. I knew I wanted a Rabbit to center my easter/spring display on my kitchen buffet around and I had an picture in my mind of what I wanted. I didn't have a lot of luck until I walked into Walmart last week to grab some masking tape.

There he was, the bunny I had been looking for! The only drawback was that he was grey, and I wanted white. I bought him anyway and with a little help from my Favorite shade of Americana paint (bleached sand) I have a white rabbit for my kitchen!

Now, my kitchen buffet has been taking a beating here lately, Have you ever noticed how whenever you are working on a major project or if you are feeling down that the hot spots in your home go completely crazy and out of control?
Exhibit A.
Really?
I wish I could blame it all on the guys..but I'm just as bad about it, especially when I am in one of those funks. This is just an example of pure laziness on all of our parts, it took me all of 10 minutes to gather everything up and..GASP...Put it away!!!

Ahh..Now isn't that better? Clean and tidy with a new White Rabbit center stage!
All that is missing are my stuffed eggs that I haven't made yet...and I think the rabbit needs some glaze.. I will have to think on that one!

hehe the little chick was a dollar store buy for the fun of it, Nefferkitty isn't real sure of it when it is hopping around, but CleoKatra doesn't even spare it a glance. She's such a Diva.
The little blue birds are actually salt and pepper shakers that I scored at Loot last week, and the plate they are sitting on was the goodwill buy I posted about last post.
And don't the vintage Milk bottles look great with the fresh daisy stems?!
Once I am able to uncover more flat surfaces in the house (it's been a several week funk..At least I was awake and fairly even tempered!), I'll probably do some shifting around, try to get away from the symetrical feel it's got going on, but this works for now ;)

What about you? Are you ready for spring yet?

Sharing some crafting from over the holidays!

I've not been being very productive the past little while, but just before Christmas I had been doing much better. Since I didn't blog much during that time I thought I might share some of my projects now.

This one wasn't me actually, Hubby took care of it for me while I was doing other things :)
Our cheesy cheapo dining room chandelier went from ick to slick with the help of a can of ORB and by replacing the glass globes with inexpensive shades. The shades are in line for some burlap treatment when I get to it :)

My Memo center, dressed for the Holiday

My friend Mollie's version, this frame still had it's glass so it only got 1 wire of clips in order to utilize dry erase markers as well.

I just Love me some Embellished towels, don't you?

Too cute Elephants!

Owlberta, She can actually grasp some surfaces in order to perch on her own.

Ribbon rose ornament, this was so super simple to make!

So that's all I have pictures of, there was more creativity going on but it's been a few weeks and well, who can remember it all?!?
Time to go take down the rest of Christmas, Later!
